Demand is the power to purchase a product coupled with willingness to purchase it.

If a consumer holds only one of them, demand doest not exist.

Explanation:

If a poor man wants to purchase a car then it is not demand because he has wishes to purchase but not power. Similarly a rich man could purchase cycle ; it is also not a demand, because he has power but not wish.
