HYDRATION

A phenomenon in which +ve and -ve ions of an electrolyte are attracted by opposite poles of water molecules so that electrolyte dissociate into ions and trapped in the spaces present between water molecules is called “hydration”.

EXPALNATION

When any salt is mixed with water the +ve and -ve ions of salt are attracted by partial +ve and partial -ve poles of water molecules. Due to this attraction ions are moving toward their respective poles and surrounded in the spaces present between water molecules therefore salt is dissolved in water.
