PROPERTIES OF RADIOACTIVE RAYS

Alpha Rays Beta Rays Gamma Rays
Alpha rays are double positive charge mass 4 amu called Helium nucleous. Beta rays are fast moving electrons formed due to convention of neutrons into proton. Gamms rays are high energy electromagnetic radiations.
Alpha rays behaves as positive rays in magnetic field. Behaviour:

Beta – rays behaves as –ve rays in magnetic field.

Behaviour:

These rays have exactly same velocity of light.

Velocity:

They have velocity 1/10 time the velocity of light.

Velocity:

These rays have velocity nearly equal to velocity of light.

Velocity:

These rays have exactly the same velocity of light.

Penetrating Power:

They have maximum penetrating power,1-2 cm in gases.

Penetrating Power:
