Q.6      Briefly states the provisions of factory act with regard to holiday and leave with pay.

Ans:     HOLIDAY AND LEAVE WITH PAY

The provisions of Factories Act with regard to holidays and leave with pay are:

a)      WEEKLY HOLIDAYS

An adult worker shall not be required or allowed to work on Sunday unless:

(1)        He is granted a holiday on one of the three days immediately before or after Sunday.

(2)        Manager has intimated inspector required information and has also displayed a notice in the factory.

b)     COMPENSATORY HOLIDAY

Where a worker has been deprived of any weekly holiday, he shall be allowed compensatory holiday of equal number to the holidays, so lost,

c)      ANNUAL HOLIDAYS

Every worker on completion 12 months continuous service shall be allowed holidays for 14 consecutive days. Where a worker fails to take the whole of holidays due to him the unavailed period shall be carried forward to next year. The unavailed holidays shall be encashed when he leaves the service or is discharged.

d)      FestivalHoliday

Every worker shall be allowed holiday with pay on all days declared to be festival holiday Where a worker is required to work on festival holiday he shall be allowed one day s compensatory holiday with full pay and a substitute holiday.
