Stoichiometry:

The study of relationships between the amounts of the reactants and the products in chemical reactions as given by balanced chemical equations is called ‘Stoichiometry’. In Stoichiometry there are two main assumptions:

1.            Complete conversion of reactants into products

2.            No side-reactions occur.

TYPES:

Mass – Mass Relationship:

A relationship in which unknown mass of a substance is determined by given mass another substance using balanced chemical equations is called ‘Mass – Mass Relationship’.

Mass – Volume Relationship:

A relationship which allows interchanging mass and volume units of a gas in a balanced chemical equation is called ‘Mass – Volume Relationship’. Volume – Volume Relationship:

A relationship in which unknown volume of a substance is determined by the given

volume another substance is called ‘Volume -Volume Relationship’.
