The politically motivated inductions and promotions are the part and parcel of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) government to please its blue-eyed persons.

Posting of a grade-18 middle school Vice Principal/Headmistress Dr Tanvir Kayani to the Federal College of Education (FCE) Head of the Master Degree Programme (grade-19) is one of such examples. The authorities breached the law to help Dr Tanvir Kiyani get her desired position. FCE is a close cadre where the promotions take place within the college according to seniority.

Teaching methods From Computer to education, Intel helps change lives Around 14,000 teachers will be recruited by the government

What is the first thing that pops into your head when you hear someone talk about Intel?
Micro-chips? Computer processors?
But Intel’s investment is also in education and it spends approximately $100 million in 50 different countries around the world, including Pakistan.
On Wednesday, Intel Pakistan organised its eighth annual Education Awards Ceremony at Pearl Continental Hotel for outstanding teachers in Sindh. Through the Intel Teach Programme, they train teachers to use technology to help their students learn more. To date, Intel has trained more than 300,000 teachers in 75 districts of the country.

On Education: Military Children Outdo Public School Students on NAEP Tests



CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. — The results are now public from the 2011 federal testing program known as NAEP, the National Assessment of Educational Progress. And once again, schools on the nation’s military bases have outperformed public schools on both reading and math tests for fourth and eighth graders.
At the military base schools, 39 percent of fourth graders were scored as proficient in reading, compared with 32 percent of all public school students.

Education Secretary Overstated Failing Schools Under No Child Left Behind, Study Says




When the Obama administration was seeking to drum up support for its education initiatives last spring, Secretary of Education Arne Duncan told Congress that the federal law known as No Child Left Behind would label 82 percent of all the nation’s public schools as failing this year. Karachi: Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) on Thursday issued a notification to invite application for scrutiny of answer scripts. The notification informed all concerned that applications for the scrutiny of scripts of SSC part-II (class X) General Group Annual Examination 2010 (regular and private) will be accepted in National Bank of Pakistan, Habib Bank Limited and Askari Commercial Bank, board office booths w.e.f July 12 till August 11, 2010. LAHORE – With a view to facilitate special children live a normal life through education, the Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has envisaged an ambitious plan to arrange need-based education for special children in their nearby schools. The pilot project would be launched from Lahore and it is expected that this educational ‘socialisation’ would sensitise the masses to the needs of special persons around them. PEF Chairman Raja Muhammad Anwar said this while talking to a five-member delegation of office bearers from various NGOs associated with the welfare of special persons, at his residence on Sunday. High officials of PEF briefed the delegation about the PEF public-private partnership model. Anwar said the Punjab government was working towards strengthening the institutions for special education in the public sector, adding that Rs. 35 million would be spent on setting-up of computer labs in 37 special education institutions in the province.
