NEUTRALIZATION:

A chemical process in which cation of acid is combining with anion of base to form water along with salt is called neutralization e.g.

HCL + Na0H —> NaCl + H20

TYPE OF SALT FORMED AFTER NEUTRALIZATION

i. ACID SALT:

When strong acid is combine with weak base, partial neutralization takes place so that a salt obtained which is acidic in character called acidic salt for e.g.

HCI + NH4OH ————> NH4Cl + H2O

ii. BASIC SALT:

When strong base is combine with weak acid, partial neutralization takes place so that a salt obtained which is basic in character called basic salt for e.g.

2NaOH + H2CO3 ————> Na2CO3 + 2H2O

iii. NEUTRAL SALT:

When strong acid is combine with strong base, complete neutralization take place so that a salt obtained is neutral in character called neutral salt for e.g.

HCl + NaOH  ————> NaCl + H2O
